School children and Safety

None can forget the gruesome abduction and murder of two children at Coimbatore. This incident has acted as an alarm for the parents to safeguard their children from evil sources.One of the most important rules of parenting is never to take a child’s safety for granted, and that includes safety in school. A corrective action is required so that these crimes do not occur again. All schools should have a record of the transport details of their students. Details of driver such as name, vehicle number, photo, address should be sought. Even parents should be knowing all the information so as to safeguard their ward. An unique ID card should be produced by the school with a bar code in it. All the  information of the drivers should be stored in computer . Manual checkup may consume time, so an automated checkup should be implemented where the driver's information will be verified using the barcode in it. Parents should teach their children safe behaviors . Children who know the appropriate action to take in a given situation are less likely to expose themselves to danger. Encourage your children to get to know school staffs other than their teachers and get acquainted with them.

In this fast moving world, everything goes far away from us even our closed ones. We are introduced to several social networking sites today so as to keep us updated of our closed ones.While the internet made the world a global village, the social networking sites brought the world within the four walls.Geographical locations are no barrier to stay in touch.Well, one of the many advantages is that you can connect with lost classmates, lost family members on social networking websites. Simply type in a name and you might see a picture of someone that you haven't seen in years. Some of the sites such as Friendster and MySpace are the two most popular sites that aim to build special niche for people who share common interests and passions. Whereas social networking sites such as Twitter and LinkedIn are more professionally related and help the business men promote their businesses.

However, everything has a positive and negative side.

    Social networking of course helps in a lot of ways but the users have to be really careful to stay secure and safe. Security is one of the topmost concerns of social networking sites that you currently use. This is mainly because the social networking sites allow you to display your personal information such as name, location, and email address. There are some people who always in search of a fake identity. If they get all the information about you on internet, they may use your identity for different type of illegal activities, which may cause you problems in future. It is always advisable to don’t provide your entire identity information online.

You may get many requests for adding as friends or joining different communities. Always try to know as much as possible before adding anyone as friend or joining any community. Because they may use fake identity or may involve in some illegal activities, which may spoil your image.

 Another cause of concern is cases of online harassment and stalking. Since the social networking sites, are very poorly regulated so it can be a very fertile ground for people trying to get even with you. They can spread malicious humor among your friends and also download and morph your photos. 

 To be honest, I am not against these sites , but the poor regulation of these sites. They should be properly regulated so that people enjoy the whole benefits of it.

The unassuming manner of Mr. Obama, leader of the free world and the most powerful man in the world, was impressive. He is the embodiment of the political leader every youth wants today. Michelle Obama was extremely warm and eloquent too. It was truly enriching to hear the President speak of bringing all countries together.

Packaged tours Vs Personalised tours.

To begin with, suitability of either of (packaged or personalised tours) them depends a lot on a traveller. Both tours have their own merits & demerits. In a tour, major hassle & cost involve on two counts-stay & transportation; one should choose the type of tour where one has better solution available to him on these two counts. If you can organise yourself well or don't mind taking due pain on these two counts, one should go in for personalised tours for greater enjoyment, flexibility, cost saving, overall control of tour to match concurrent needs etc. These days with the help of internet, blogs, reviews & information on various channels, one can come to know of many significant aspects of one's tour before-hand. One can browse, enquire, speak to, cross check for authentic info and plan executable customised personalised tours / itinerary very well. However, in case of 1st trip to un-friendly areas/countries, due consideration for packaged tours is essential. If chosen packaged tour, one can 'explore' for "customised package tour " . But under every plan one must have complete written details meticulously of the packaged tours to ward off any deceit, compromise and unfair treatment during the tour plus the ability to tackle breaking of promise / deficiency in service when tour is on.

When you pen a letter, you put life into it

    Letter writing is an art, sometimes boring, sometimes exciting, but full of detail. For several centuries it was the main way people stayed in touch, especially those who had moved elsewhere, whether to other parts of the country or abroad. Letter writing was a process that could take an hour or several days, depending on the length of the epistle. Letters were joyfully received and replies penned. They were saved and treasured and often handed down through families as keepsakes and histories. These days most people communicate by email. Asking for someone’s address means their email address, not house number and street name. Handwritten letters are now being replaced by e-mail, sms, etc. It is no doubt that English language is literally getting mutilated by the modern trend of sms language and e-mails . All our words are shortened and this impact is seen in youngsters when they write their exams.
  It is high time that we know the importance of letters. Even though it consumes time, it increases our vocabulary, writing skill and is also saved as treasures.

Lunatic obsession for fair complexion

Indians are usually obsessed with fair skin as they acquired this legacy from the British era. As our rulers were fair skinned, we also run after fair complexion . Markets too are loaded with fairness creams that promise to turn your complexion fair.Over the years many Indians have been programmed to equate fair skin with beauty, success and happiness. This craze for white skin has been aggressively marketed. In advertisements, it is always shown that in order to be successful, liked and approved by others, one needs to have fair skin.Unfortunately, people are only concerned about surface level beauty and pay little attention to a person's character, intelligence and other essential personality traits that make people complete as individuals.
As proof of India's obsession with colour, most people point to the preference in the marriage market for brides with a fair complexion. Indeed, the complexion of even the new-born girl child is scrutinised carefully by elders to see if the redness associated with birthwill give way to the fair complexion so beloved of most Indians. Woe betide any child who, in addition to having been born into the wrong gender, has committed the additional sin of being dark-complexioned.

It is high time people come out of this lunatic obsession for fairness as it no way determines the character or individuality of a person.

journey towards success...:)

On Wednesday, I received lots of surprises.In my earlier post, I had mentioned that I wished to do something unique among my co-mates.I have a great passion for writing.But I haven't exposed it. For the first time, I decided to post my views to newspapers. And it appeared in "THE HINDU" dated 2.6.2010. I felt like "my journey towards success" begins from this. I was much elated.

The Maoist attack in West Bengal is an act of cowardice. If the rebels' demands are meaningful, why can't they adopt peaceful means and agree to talk to the government? Peace and progress are two sides of the same coin. Only when we have peace can we have development. Violence will achieve nothing.
