On the eve of Diwali

Diwali is certainly a season of joy and cheer.

     Today, I really had a nice time doing Diwali eve shopping. Dad, Mom, Sis, Me and brother walked a long way along with the huge crowd. Even though the huge crowd  seems to be irritating, it is always a joy walking in the crowd during festival season ( specially diwali ). Such a crowd could be expected only in Diwali.

     We planned to eat something and then landed to an ice cream parlour. To be frank, it was the first time, we ate icecream with utmost satisfaction..:).We ordered for three varieties. It was like having a sumptuous dinner in a 5 star hotel..:)
   Light the lamps in your heart and feel the glow.

    

Go Green for Diwali

It is the time to celebrate Diwali. This is the only festival where people wait for and enjoy its arrival before one month itself. Still, only 2 days to wait for this wonderful festival. Streets are crowded with people for the last minute shopping.

Diwali is a time of getting together with family and friends. But, in all this celebration, we often forget one most important aspect...Guess what..?? POLLUTION

Bursting crackers is definitely a fun...none can deny it, but we should even consider the effect it has on the environment. So none can ban fireworks as it is not a practical solution. Also, if there are no fireworks, then it doesn't look to be like diwali. 

The only solution is an eco-friendly product. It can produce light and minimum sound, but does not cause any harm to the environment.

People should get alarmed of the increased percentage of pollution around them and should go for eco-friendly products. Let this Diwali bring in lots of happiness and enlighten all our minds.

Colours..:)

Yesterday, I was praying to God that this month should fill up my life with happiness and should be filled with bright colours..

 By then, something striked my mind..

What if there is no concept of colour..??How will the world be like without any colour?

It is really hard to imagine...

There would not be any sweet fights between siblings when Mom brings dresses of two different colours...:)

Life would be monotonous

Colours are thought to have different energies, which can be channeled into our bodies.

I like to quote out some cultural connotations to colour:

Orange: It is viewed as a bright cheerful colour in the west, in Indian symbolism it is representative or sacrifice and valor, especially in the battle field. 

White: The west brides wear white, in India widows wear white.

Red: Red in India is the colour for a married woman, the colour of her bridal attire, the vermillion in the parting of her hair, the colour of the bangles she wears!

Colours have the power to alter our perception of what we see.  If you have a  small room, colouring it in light colours can make it appear larger. With the right colours you can create a serene haven in your room that can soothe and calm.  

Finally, I thanked God for bestowing me with a good vision.

Pink for October

Wondering what..??

October is the month of the pink ribbon.

Worldwide, breast cancer comprises 10.4% of all cancer incidence among women, making it the most common type of non-skin cancer in women and the fifth most common cause of cancer death. This explains the number of awareness campaigns about breast cancer during the month of October.

So this month is dedicated for breast care awareness.

So are you ready to wear pink ribbon..??

End of 5th semester

    Fifth semester ended on october 25 and all university practicals were over by then. All were happy as diwali is nearing. But the next day ( october 26 ), an unbelievable event happened. It was the death of my classmate named K.D.Prashanth. I received the message of his death on 26th evening through sms.

     I had not even spoke to him in the college. But still, his death worried me as it was someone who was much closer to me.Eventhough, he left this world at a very young age, he will remain in all our hearts forever...we all students together prayed for his soul to rest in peace...

 A famous adage comes to my mind..

College Strike

Coll reopened on July 1, so couldn't come online. Two weeks passed by, and on July 14 , there was some chaos in my college. All boys gathered and decided to do a strike for making the students wear uniform. They called for the girls. But we were bit reluctant and so they didn't attend the classes. After knowing that the students were in strike, the staffs were moving up and down as if some alien has entered our campus. We girls were enjoying in micro-processor lab.

•   1st day of strike : The next day, I went to the bus stop as usual. All students were looking me like alien. Then I saw all my 3rd year friends in color wear indicating that they are too against uniform and boycotting classes. I ran to my house, changed my dresses in seconds and returned back to bus stop. This incident would always remain in my mind. All were amazed at my quick change...LOL. All girls gathered and the HODs came and talked with us.They said that the principal is in trichy and so they adviced us to go to class. But we girls said that we will wait until he comes..They went with their heads hung down...We all went and sat in stadium and were enjoying the full day. We actually forgot the reason of why we assembled...:) Boys were seated in park.
• 2nd day of strike : This time we decided to do something serious so that the management takes some quick action. There was much chaos in the college. College management started to call each ward's parent and asked them to take their ward. They told parents that their daughter is leading the strike (incase of girls) or their son is in police station(incase of boys). We students cleverly called our parents from cell phones and informed them that there was nothing serious and said them not to worry about anything...:)Police gathered and asked students to leave the college. They were called by the management. Police said that they came to college by themselves. Boys called for the media persons. We girls were in restroom and boys were sending the updates through sms ( understood the use of sms only then..:) )
There was a tug of war between police and media..:)Hours went by. At noon, we students gathered infront of principal's room. The staffs called for student representatives so that they could speak to principal. We were waiting to know the result. It became very late and all buses started to take off. So all students went infront of buses and didn't allowed them to move. Police asked the boys to move and started to take video of girls. Girls got terrified and moved. It started to drizzle. We decided not to get into the bus until we knew the result. All buses took off. Reps came out and said that the management would allow us to wear color wear only on fridays. All students got irritated as they were trying to treat us like school students..The staffs said that we could continue our strike on Monday and asked us to leave to our home. We were reluctant. But after some time, we left and all decided to come on Monday with the same spirit.

 

The next day (Saturday ), all students received a letter from the college informing that all third year students are suspended and classes won't function.... 

Now, I am waiting for the college to open....to know what's going to happen next....:)
