Marriages Made in Heaven...!!

Today morning I realised that its been ages since I wrote down what I felt. Got sunk with works in the college. Finally, the marriage date of my sister is fixed and this made me to write a blog on marriage.
We hear many people saying that Marriages are made in heaven. But these days, they are very much made on earth. And arranging marriages is not a heavenly experience either. Down south, parents take the responsibility of finding life parters for their children. Believe me, it is not as easy.
First, parents have to be tech-savvy to search the matrimony sites and find the ideal partner whom they think will suit their child astrologically, physically, academically, financially and even geographically.!! Another major hurdle is the age factor.
Hold on..!! The parents cannot do much at this juncture and can only be a connecting link. Girl seeing ceremony is a taboo. How can you expect the modern, educated, financially independent girl to become  an exhibit...?? So, they decide on an idyllic spot to meet. If they  like each other, then the compatibility test begins; to know whether their partner suits them emotionally, habitually, intellectually and so forth. The question of today's gen is "How can we marry a total stranger?" and hence the compatibility test .Next is the Dowry. Many boys have changed now; they are concerned about relationships rather than materialistic things.  It jeopardises the marriage. Even websites like www.idontwantdowry.com are devoted to the noble cause.
Today's Gen  are perfect, normal, modern children who know what they want and they are looking for that "made for each other" match. They are aware of not falling into pitfalls.

Marriage arranged with consents of parents and children is always better.Even in love marriage children must take the view of parents for better.

very debatable point raised.it depends.thre are positrive and negative aspects in both arranged and love ones.
in love marriages, being duped, cheated, etc. cannot be judged by immature hearts. there are many disasters.
this happens in arranged one too but prudent structure if society helps. which is absent in love marriage case.

Hey nice post. Agree marriages are more earthbound nowadays. Here is the kicker though - marriage is a different ballgame than pre-marriage compatibility tests. I sense that nowadays too much focus is put on secondary traits like people's habits and quirks, or whether they meet YOUR idea of what a spouse should be like (flowers, gifts and Hallmark cards please). Whether the other person is good, kind and loving is thrown to the wayside, while my generation searches for these 'lesser' personality traits in the others. Too bad the taboo of divorce is fading and is fast becoming a convenient option for the wrong people. Those who need to get divorced are still stuck in their abusive relationships and the flaky ones are jumping at their chance to get free.

I agree with Pramod there are pros and definite cons to earthbound marriages....now the result is more on you alone.
