Angdee Birds ..:)

Squawk, virtually..!!!
I first heard of this game from my 3 year old cousin. He kept badgering his dad to hand over his iPad to him. "Angdee Birds, I want " was his refrain. I watched him as he slung 'angdee' birds at grunting pigs. And he wanted me to give him a five every time a pig combusted.

Nostagic...:)

( My first speech in English during my eighth grade for Independence day)

The word "patriotism" brings a biased thought in many people. Is patriotism only laying one's life for one's own country?? No, not at all. Patriotism also includes doing one's own duty correctly and paying reverence to the country. The essence of patriotism is selflessness, a sense of belonging towards the country, a will to make small sacrifices for the good of the society at large.

Don't make it a one day program...!!

I always wonder about tying a thread for protection on Rakshabandhan. Aren't there many other ways to express our immortal love? This festival is actually commercialised today. Why should we limit our love to just one day..??? In a country where molestation, female infanticide is rampant..these festivals don't have any significance.

The month of hope and hoopla

Come Aadi and the wind blows scores of freebies literally sweeping the consumers of their feet. The month of Aadi surely makes its mark in retail therapy. People feel happy returning with bag loads of "good and comfort buys"- items presumably at a lower price. And for the shopaholics like me, it is actually a mini Diwali. Call it the mood enhancer or grabbing the oppurtunity, an outing to the busy markets during this month is almost like a not-to-be-missed shopping event.

Log out of the Internet for a while this Sunday..!!

"Yup, we are in touch on FB" is what we often say these days when someone enquires about a friend. In today's world, when just a click connects you to anyone on the other side of the globe, the words 'friend' and 'friendship' have assumed a differrent meaning. Familiarity no longer matters,as a few minutes of online chat with a total stranger can see him or her joining your long list of 'friends'.

Menu-gateway to adventure

Many believe that the menu is the most superfluous part of a restaurant. And the way most people use it, I find it difficult to disagree with this statement.
Think about it....Without fail, we all open the menu card and read it from cover to cover or end to end, whichever the case with great ceremony. And end up ordering what we always order. There's a whole world hidden away in that slightly laminated card..!! Alas, we lack the courage to try something new. And so reading the menu has become simply a ceremony.

Colour of my choice..!!

(This post is a part of indiblogger contest)

Without colours, life is like a body without soul
Life is enormous, life is bright, life is colorful. Colorful is the main feature among those three, as colors of the life is the mechanism that may turn the dull day into the brightest day. Just imagine a world without colour. Everything would be in monochrome. The feeling would be equivalent to living in a black and white television. There would be not much variation and everything would be of the same shades, black and white. That would be so gray, sad and gloomy. A peach and an apple would look almost identical.
There would not be any sweet fights between siblings when Mom gets dresses of two different colours..:)

Stop and enjoy the Beauty of Nature...!!

From a distance the world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.
From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
it's the voice of every man...

What is Real Beauty...??

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Everybody has beauty- just not everybody can see it.

There are thousands of adages on beauty.
What is the definition of Beauty..?? What is it to be beautiful???
Everyday, we are bombarded with lots of advertisements on beauty.  In advertisements, it is always shown that in order to be successful, liked and approved by others, one needs to have external beauty. There is always a misconception in this term.

Go Green

Earth is our home and we should keep the Earth clean and help it survive against global warming. Everyone should care about the planet that we live on. Due to global warming glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and cloud forests are drying. The planet is heating up way too fast. Humans are the main reason for the climate to rise and we humans are the ones who released greenhouse gases into the ozone layer.

Completed 1 year of blogging

It is like I have started blogging only yesterday. But my blog is 1 year old today...!! And I am no more a newbie...!! Time flies by..

I started to blog without much interest in it. Days passed by and  realised it as an effective medium and outlet of my thoughts.I believe in the fact that  writers literally create new world from scratch. Writing is an exploration.

Pride and Prejudice

Happy is the man who acquires reading. According to me, poor is the man who does not read, and empty is his life. Books are real treasures. I had totally slacked off on reading the past month. So I started with a book "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen which I got from one of my friends. I was initially reluctant to move on with this book as I had more interest towards non-fiction. But now, it has become one of my favourites. Inspite of youngster's natural attraction to Sidney Sheldon and sometimes even the light and foolish Archie's comics, Pride and Prejudice dominates my preferences. Not to forget Anne Frank's "The Diary Of a Young Girl" which always tops in my favourites list.

Optical Illusion

  1. Concentrate on the illusion you see in the middle of the illusion of the picture(the three white dots are) for about 35-40 seconds
  2. Then take a look at any white wall and start blinking your eyes
  3. A picture now is starting to appear on the wall, continue blinking
  4. What do you see? JESUS CHRIST!!! WOW I SAW JESUS ON THE WALL.. PS: Dont tell this to anyone because they will call you crazy!

Happy Mother's Day

To all the Mothers, Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers out there, Happy Mother's Day..!!!  Mothers hold a special place in our hearts and stir our emotions when their name is mentioned or remembered.

When a person is in their childhood, his/her mom stands ahead of them to set an example. As  they grow up and become a teenager, she is always behind her little one, to lend support whenever they  need  it. Once they grow up to become a mature adult, the mother starts walking beside them, so that the two can be friends forever. In short, a mother is always there for her child, at each and every stage of their life.

I am remembered of a poem now by Eugene. I read this poem when I was a child. I was not aware of the meaning then....but now I could understand the true meaning of it.
One night a tiny dewdrop fell
Into the bosom of a rose,--
"Dear little one, I love thee well,
Be ever here thy sweet repose!"

Seeing the rose with love bedight,
The envious sky frowned dark, and then
Sent forth a messenger of light
And caught the dewdrop up again.

"Oh, give me back my heavenly child,--
My love!" the rose in anguish cried;
Alas! the sky triumphant smiled,
And so the flower, heart-broken, died.

Being a Kid

I realize it's been a really long time since I posted anything here. It seems like whenever I attempt to post, my mind goes somewhere else or I get caught up doing other things and I just never get back to it. So here it goes..

Sad to say, I've totally slacked off on reading as well. I started a book 2 months before and still couldn't complete it. Everyday,I look at them and I tell myself, "Today I will start reading..." and then I go to college and come home and forget about it. It is due to combination of things...college work, laziness, the summer, lack of creativity..Hold on...!! This post is not something about me and my daily routine.

Was there ever a better time in our lives? Wondering what made me ask this question...:) The last week was very hectic with my practical exams in the peak and whitewash of my house. Caught with lots of interesting things like my dad's childhood photos and even mine while cleaning the storeroom. I had most of my photos scanned but few were missed. While looking at those, I felt like getting back young again.

As kids, everything in the world was perfect. We didn't know what is meant by hatred, jealousy, ego...As kids, we were like free birds. If anyone visited our home, as kids, we just jump and sit in their lap. We were completely innocent. Those were the golden days..!! If I were given the gift of wishes by God, I would definitely opt for my childhood days. No pressure or promises to be met. No writing of blogs too..:)
When I sit back near my window, basking in the warm rays of the sun..
The day reminds me of the lovely spring,
The beautiful days and the bright memories of the past
The magical smiles of the kids take me back to my prime time!!
As I get older, I feel like a bird with feathers cut. Lots of restrictions, rules, stressful life wherever we move about. I can no longer play on the swing, run like crazy. All these make me think " If Pandora had not opened the magic box...??"
Gone are the days!!
When the school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and
benches!
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
managed to line up daily for the morning prayers.
We learnt writing with
slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!
I could still feel the happiness I had when I progressed from pencil to pen in my third grade. I was moving about the house in a three wheel cycle with lots of joy and said it to my grandpa as though I had got admission in Stanford. Wonderful days those were ...!!!

What if God transforms everyone to kid again...?? :)

Tagged by Mohi..!!

"Thanks a lot Mohi for the tag. I am greatly honoured."
It is Mohini who tagged me this time.
The rules for this tag are as follows:
1. Link the person who tagged you.
2. Reply to the questions below.
3.Tag 3 or more people.

As per tradition, the person tagged with “MEME, has to answer a questionnaire…. Hope i do full justice to it.

Q1. If you could go back in time to relive one moment, what would it be?
The  one moment I think of reliving is the day I became the ASPL ( school pupil leader) in my 10th standard. I was voted  by majority of students. Till then, I didn't even took the responsibility of a class leader. That day was a great transition in my life. It instilled in me confidence and courage.

Q2. If you could go back in time and change one thing what would it be?
Undoubtedly my 12th grade physics answer sheet. That changed my entire pathway. I missed to answer a 5 marks question ( Lorentz Fitgerald contraction ). If I had answered it, I would have been in a different college.

Q3.What movie or T.V character you think you resemble the most in personality?
I  always wish to be unique.

Q4.Which movie or T.V character would you love to be?
I don't associate myself with any movie or character. To be frank, I feel it like degrading our own self.

Q5.If you could push the one person in the whole world of a cliff and get away with it, who would it be?
Hahaha...:) I really do not have much courage to do so. I  am a person who go with the adage " Life is not a bed of roses." We have to face all the barriers in life.

Q6.Name one habit you need to change in yourself.
Short temper. I am easily moved to anger if anything doesn't go my way.

Q7. Describe yourself in one word.
    Amiable..:)

Q8. Describe the person who named you MEME in one word.
     Lovable...Rofl ( Hope you understand Mohi )

Q9. Why do you blog?
It is a medium where I could reflect upon my thoughts. Also a medium to connect with people of different thoughts.

Q10. Name at least 3 people or more people to send this “MEME” and then inform them.
    Sister
    brother
    Madhu
    Shri
    Monica

Q11. Link back to the person who tagged you in this “MEME”.

Happy Birthday..:))

Birth is your beginning. It is a window to the chance of a lifetime, the chance to fulfill your unique mission. So a birthday is a momentous occasion. It is much more than an occasion to receive gifts. It is a chance to remember the day that a major event occurred, to celebrate and give thanks and to reflect upon how well we are fulfilling our calling.
It’s that time of year again. It’s my birthday today.  Another year old, another year wiser (hopefully) and another year full of changes, challenges and contemplations.  Seeing my age crossing 20, leaves me feel a little old and more responsible. Can’t I just refuse to grow up, or at least refuse to get old? It’s funny to me that despite the chronological number of my age, I don’t feel any difference with now and the days of my childhood.
Can't still believe that I am turning 21....!!! Time goes faster than I think.
My first and most precious gift for this day is a blogpost by my brother. My sister was the first to wish me today..:)

Freebies....Election...Shame..!!

The great Indian election bazaar has started in Tamil Nadu. Indian media are agog with Arabian Night stories of fantastic offers to the voters during the forthcoming state assembly on April 13. Moreover, this is the first time, I am going to cast my vote.Let us have a look of freebies provided by DMK and AIADMK.
Seeking to woo the voters, ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu  said it would distribute free mixies or grinders to women, free laptops to SC/ST students and free rice of 35kg to BPL families if voted back to power. After the DMK announced a string of freebies in its election manifesto, the archrival AIADMK came out with its own edition of the soap opera. The AIADMK is not lagging behind. In fact, the AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalitha tried to beat her bête noire Karunanidhi at his own game by jumping several steps ahead. In a nutshell, both have copied each other.
Here's a sample: While the DMK had promised 35 kg of free rice every month for below-poverty line families, AIADMK has promised 20 kg of free rice for all ration-card holders. If DMK wants to give women free mixies and grinders, its rival has added fans to the list. The ruling party has promised laptops to students in their first year of college. Jayalalitha is promising them one even as early as their eleventh standard.
Both the Dravidian parties are simply fooling the people. I also feel that they are reducing the people to beggars. It clearly indicates that they are not confident to win votes by their acts and deeds.
I received a message yesterday " Karunanidhi to the people of Tamil Nadu, before world cup Cricket match : People dont have to worry if India loses the world cup, we will "Freely" distribute the world cup to each house in Tamil Nadu." This proves that they have misjudged the minds of the people.
What a great tyaga dharma that could not even be foreseen by Lord Buddha!!!!
These freebies are really a big shame to a democratic country. Freebies , undoubtedly, make people idle and it halts nation's development. Yesterday, I happened to see Karunanidhi's election campaign in Salem in television. He was asking the voters  "whether they wanted a government which provides 3 eggs or a government which doesn't provide eggs."   What a shame...!!! It is crystal clear from his statement that politicians have thought that they could easily fool people.
These politicians are undoubtedly barriers for nation's progress. People should understand that where the money comes from and how the expenses are compensated after the leaders get elected to power.
Fan or washing machine...DMK or ADMK...:)

Exam Results..:)

And finally the results of last semester were out after a long wait on Wednesday. The last 2 weeks had been damn crazy as there were always some rumours about the announcement of results. It was actually scheduled for release on March 6. Exam times are the most dreadful moments for students, which may turn out to be nightmares or blessings. There is not a single student soul on earth that does not fear the terror of exams. They are always in paranoia that the examiner will not let them pass or that they will fail somehow or the other. And I am no exception to it...:)

Though, there is always a mountain of fear and anxiety in my heart, there is always only a tinge of it on my face and in my attitude. People comment on me that I take exams lightly, yet I am able to get brilliant results. The key is to stand rock solid in front of these Frankenstein monsters. One should have the faith in oneself and belief in their capabilities, though some nervousness is bound to creep up.

Though, I have much confidence on myself, the day when the results were out, my body was full of goose-pimples, and my heart was pounding hard.  The hands of the clock went tick tick tick, like a time bomb. The most dreadful part was the results were announced when I was in college. This time, I saw my results in college with all my friends surrounded...Eventually, the webpage opened up and the results popped up. I had got a percentage of 86. I was so glad and delighted that I had no control over me. It was such a new feeling.

Exams and results are a part of life and as professional development is never ending, so are the exams. Many people succeed while others have to wait for next time. Therefore, one must never forget that after every hurdle, there is another one waiting to get over you. Results will come out as they ought to, however, only wehave the power to turn the tables.

Women and Nutrition

Women of today have succeeded in almost every fields. They have stormed into boardrooms to managing corporates. Eating well is one of the best ways women can take care of herself. Always remember healthy eating is not about staying "thin" and working out like there's no tomorrow. It starts right from home. It doesn't need to include foods that don't form a part of our regular cuisine or be starving on liquids with the idea to flush out toxins. I find some of my friends having little amount of  food in the name of diet. They are actually starving themselves . Most people stick with wrong ways.
Following are some tips to plan your diet :
1.Plan ahead for quick and easy meals
 2.  Always ensure that your fridge is always filled with colourful fruits. The more different colours, the variety of nutrients you are filling up. Make snacking on fruits as a habit.
3. Add calcium in your diet
4. Intake of iron. Ensure that foods rich in iron are a part of your diet  which includes plenty of greens, dates.

Always plan your diet that suits your lifestyle. Try not to think of certain foods as off limits as it can lead to food cravings and binge eating. Foods rich in sugar and salt should be as occasional indulges rather than making it a part of diet.  Always bear in mind that diet is not starving yourself but keeping yourself healthy.

Part - 1 completed..:)

By God's grace, everything went on smooth during the engagement of my elder sister. Engagement is one of the most significant psychological transitions in a woman's life. Inside the newly engaged woman often lie fear, anxiety and sadness. A bride-to-be must face and confront these important internal details.
The flowers, the dress, the caterer, the guest list...and so on. I was all the while taking photos and it started form home. I was assigned this duty of taking snaps as I cover every nook and corner. It is rightly said that building a house is equivalent to performing a marriage. As of now, only part 1 is completed, yet to go for part-2..:)

So, it's Women's Day again. My post and my interview has got featured in blogjunta.com as part of women's day. Feel much elated and I feel this as my first step towards success...yet to achieve a lot..:)

Kudos to Women

Our women have a great part to play in the progress of our country, as the mental and physical contact of women  with life is much more lasting and comprehensive than that of men. For nothing was it said, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world”. In the apron string of women is hidden the revolutionary energy, which can establish paradise on this earth – Dr Rajendra Prasad.

India is famous as a great country of many cultures, traditions and geographical characteristics. However at the same time, India is also known by the sobriquet 'male chauvinistic nation. The male chauvinistic nation tends to forget that India is referred to as "Bharat Mata". But, Women of today are not women of yesterday-they are not just mothers and housewives but executives, Prime Ministers and Presidents of nations. They have now made their presence felt in every sphere of life.
Woman is the magnificent creation of god, a multi faceted personality with the power of benevolence, adjustability, integrity and tolerance. She is companion of man, gifted with equal mental faculty, a protector and provider, the embodiment of love and affection. The role given to women in a society is a measuring rod and true index of its civilisation and cultural attainment. Gandhiji gave a clarion call for women's  participation in the freedom movement.
In the modern age, we find the role of women in every field. Women have demolished the myth that certain fields were only for men. Women have the power to involve themselves whole heartedly in whatever field they work. When we come across the results of competitive examinations ,we  note that women capture most of the merit seats. They are also aware of the fast changing social milieu and they are making sustained efforts to scale the leaders of social progress by dint of their zeal and dynamism. They are contributing extensively towards the social transformation and building of the nation.
“A woman’s voice is a cure and her touch a balm”.
The journey for even the empowered women is not easy at all. Women have to face many unseen hurdles. The more the women scale the ladder of hierarchy, the more severe their problems become. It is often seen that their male counterparts at the top intentionally make things complicated for them. Still, they move through all these hurdles.
Women are less selfish and more dedicated to duty and have much patience than men by nature. Mere legislation cannot emancipate the lot of our women. This needs a radical change in our mental make up and our social structure. For this, we shall have to foster a social emancipating spirit in our everyday life. The conservative male chauvinistic attitude shall have to give way to liberalism.
                                                    “Woman is god’s best creation”
Undoubtedly, a woman is the perennial source of inspiration for man in the odyssey of life. Women of today are no longer inanimate objects. At this juncture, I am reminded of an adage of Lord byron “There is a tide in the affairs of women God knows nowhere!” Women have occupied a pivotal position today and have achieved eminence in varied fields.
                                                  “Men have sight, women insight.”
Despite hurdles like male chauvinism and indifference towards them, women have proved their worth as teachers, administrators, officers, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, nurses, and computer scientists and almost in all the spheres of activity contributing to social transformation and nation building.Women, by the dint of their devotion and dedication are heading towards advancement. They must be provided with ardent invigoration and their spirits must be kept high to delete the term "impossible" from their lexicon. Let us expect many more spirited women who will make the nation proud in times to come.

Nostalgia...!!

The last week had been damn crazy with test after test everyday. To completely rejuvenate myself, I opted to see my childhood photos. I bounced upon lots of interesting things while seeing those. And here are some of those:
1. The greeting cards given to me by my friends when I was in my fifth grade. It was actually for my birthday and as my birthday falls in april (school vacation ), I always miss celebrating it in my school. Luckily, in my fifth grade, we had school till the end of March. My friends made that day so special for me and it was for the first time, I received lots of gifts. I still cherish those memories. Not to forget the birthday in my eighth grade where my friends made it to my home.
2. The comments written about me by my classmates in a piece of paper. I  still value it like a treasure.
3. Pictures are priceless treasures.  When people lose everything in a house fire, that is the one thing that is irreplaceable to them. I show a lots of interest in taking photos and even a lot more interest in keeping them in order from childhood till date. I believe that they enable us to freeze-frame moments in life and enjoy them later .It really bought a smile when I had a look at the pictures.
4. The photocopy of my 12th answer sheet.
5. Diary written when i was in my eighth. I always emphasise on diary writing. It shows one's own reflection. No doubt, we remember all the big things, but what about the little special things..!! It takes a minute to write, but a lifetime to cherish.
I firmly believe we need to live in the moment, but cherishing our memories is rather important too. And that's how my blog happened.

Marriages Made in Heaven...!!

Today morning I realised that its been ages since I wrote down what I felt. Got sunk with works in the college. Finally, the marriage date of my sister is fixed and this made me to write a blog on marriage.
We hear many people saying that Marriages are made in heaven. But these days, they are very much made on earth. And arranging marriages is not a heavenly experience either. Down south, parents take the responsibility of finding life parters for their children. Believe me, it is not as easy.
First, parents have to be tech-savvy to search the matrimony sites and find the ideal partner whom they think will suit their child astrologically, physically, academically, financially and even geographically.!! Another major hurdle is the age factor.
Hold on..!! The parents cannot do much at this juncture and can only be a connecting link. Girl seeing ceremony is a taboo. How can you expect the modern, educated, financially independent girl to become  an exhibit...?? So, they decide on an idyllic spot to meet. If they  like each other, then the compatibility test begins; to know whether their partner suits them emotionally, habitually, intellectually and so forth. The question of today's gen is "How can we marry a total stranger?" and hence the compatibility test .Next is the Dowry. Many boys have changed now; they are concerned about relationships rather than materialistic things.  It jeopardises the marriage. Even websites like www.idontwantdowry.com are devoted to the noble cause.
Today's Gen  are perfect, normal, modern children who know what they want and they are looking for that "made for each other" match. They are aware of not falling into pitfalls.

Before Computers - After Digital

An interesting piece of article I came across today which highlights the travails of the technologically challenged in today's world - in a lighter vein...
A conversation between two individuals from either side of the digital fence…

BC: Looks like they finally caught the Google guy.
AD: They caught the who?
BC: That guy who leaked important documents? Can you imagine? First, he creates a website through which we can search for information and then, he leaks it all himself!
AD: Wait a minute! That's not the Google guy.
BC: He's not? Oh ok, he's the guy they made that movie on, right? The guy who reportedly lost all his friends in the process of making a site that helped people make friends?
AD: Mark Zuckerberg? No, it's not him. He created Facebook. And he didn't leak documents. He gave us all an opportunity to leak our personal information to the world. Incidentally, where do you get your information from?
BC: I searched for it on Xing.
AD: You mean Bing! Xing is a social networking site for professionals, much like LinkedIn and Viadeo.
BC: Viadeo is that American media giant, right?
AD: No, Viadeo is a professional networking site. You're confusing them with Viacom, an American media conglomerate.
BC: So what's Bing?
AD: It's a search engine like Google that helps you find things.
BC: And who owns Bing?
AD: Microsoft bought them over. Now don't ask me who founded Microsoft.
BC: I know, I know. Bill Gates!
AD: And…?
BC: Steve Jobs?
AD: Here we go again! Steve Jobs is the guy who founded Apple with Steve Wozniak.
BC: But Apple is the Mac company, right?
AD: Whew, yes!
BC: Isn't that owned by John Sculley?
AD: Sculley was the CEO, but Steve Jobs founded the company.
BC: And Microsoft?
AD: It was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. And please don't mistake him for Tim Allen or Paul Scherz.
BC: Who are they?
AD: It doesn't matter.
BC: And who owns Google?
AD: It was started by two guys…
BC: Ah, the famous pair! I know them – Jerry Yang and David Filo!
AD: Nope, these were the guys who founded Yahoo!
BC: Speaking of Yahoo!, I just registered on Buzz – I'm trying to locate my friends now.
AD: Er, aren't you talking about Google Buzz? That's the networking service. Yahoo! Buzz is about sharing stories and articles with others.
BC: Talking of Google, a friend of mine was telling me about Google's new smart phone, the Wave, with touchscreen and…
AD: You're getting mixed up again… That is Samsung Wave, a series of edgy phones with social networking features. Google Wave is an online platform that helps you collaborate on various interaction and communication tools.
BC: You were going to mention the guys who created Google…
AD: Oh yeah, Google was the brainchild of Sergey Brin and Larry…
BC: Sanger!
AD: You got the wrong Larry… Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google… Larry Sanger and Jimmy Wales began Wikipedia.
BC: Wikipedia! That's the company that owns Wikileaks, right?
AD: No, Wikipedia has nothing to do with Wikileaks! And Wikileaks was started by Julian Assange. He's the guy you were referring to. He was arrested and is now out on bail!
BC: But what did he do to get arrested?
AD: Oh, that's a long story. If you want to know more, why don't you just Google him?

Thavamai Thavamirunthu

Pongal is on and all channels are flooded with new films for the viewers. I am not a movie freak. The last movie which I saw in theatre was when I was in my first standard. All my family members are alike in this and we sail in the same boat. But yesterday, bounced upon this movie Thavamai thavamirunthu , and to my surprise, I watched this movie till the end ( 3 hours and 30 mins ) with my mom.
Kudos to Cheran for the way he conceived the screenplay based on a simple known social message. The crux of the movie is a Dad's expectation that his children shouldn't think at a later stage that he didn't bring them up / educate them properly. It tends to happen when the child talks back after he has grown up, that he would have prospered well, provided his Dad had given him enough opportunities in life. The way the movie starts, may remind us of 'Autograph' since the story goes on a flashback mode here also. Luckily, he stops with that similarity.
Strengths:
1) The casting particularly the ones who played as parents
2) I was really moved in few scenes, particularly when the couple apologize to their parents and when they realise their lonely situation in Chennai.
3) As usual, the message which the movies carries with it. Worth mentioning plot.

Weakness:
1) Too long - 3 hrs 20 minutes, with some slow moments.

Happy Pongal

I am a wee bit late in posting this blog about pongal. I wish each and everyone of you a Happy Pongal and Makar Sankranti. Pongal conjures up images of sugarcane and ofcourse the mouth watering sweet pongal. None can forget its lingering taste achieved with the liberal use of jaggery. It is one festival which brings cheer all around, as it is also the time of the year when Jallikattu is organised everywhere attracting world attention. With men flexing their muscles to catch the bulls literally by their horns, it is a sight to behold. But, it is equally very dangerous.
As always, went to grandma's house for pongal celebration. Had a great time over there.

Busy Week

Yipee...This is my 50th post....!!
College opened after a long gap of 3 months. The college was full of chaos due to placements for final years and our fear of placements too started.  Had a FDP/ workshop on Friday. This time, I was the receptionist. I did the role of compere in our department symposium on Sept. Had lots of plans last week, but nothing worked out. Hope atleast this week, all turns out to be rosy.
