Time to take Resolutions

Last day of the year and it is time to make our resolutions for the new year.  And mostly these resolutions are about action on vices and virtues – giving up some, embracing some. By and large, they revolve around our very own selves and concern issues that directly affect us.
Just keep a hand on your heart, close your eyes and think whether at all or how many times you have thought of helping others or brought a smile on somebody’s face with an act of kindness. Did you ever or how many times did you stop to help someone stuck somewhere, or help an elderly carry bags or help a visually challenged cross the road, or helped the less privileged children learn something? We are all set apart as humans beings because of the fact that we have compassion and sympathy for others.
It is always wonderful to help others.  It induces more meaning to our life, increases self-esteem and helps us feel better deep within. One feels more worthy of good deeds, trust in the decency of people gets reinforced and one also feels more connected to self and others.
Don’t we all want to make a difference and want our lives to count for something? Perhaps we do not know what to do and how. We often tend to under-estimate our ability to make any difference and effect change for the better in our immediate neighbourhood, community, society or the country.
Take some resolution that will make you and your surroundings happy. And make yourself  unique.

The Pleasure Of Using One's Brain

Although it is known that God is not equally kind to all of us while alloting to us our shares of the dirty looking substance called grey matter, it is equally well known that it is the environment in which one grows, the way one is taught to use one's brain, and adequate brain exercise that have a greater impact on its development.
THE  MORE  YOU  USE  THE  BRAIN,  THE  MORE  IT  GROWS
Many in this world have never had the pleasure of using one's brain. They know not what joy and gratification, what delight and satisfaction, what fun and contentment lies therein; they know not what they are missing. Did you not hear little bunny say " Dad, you curse me for eating lollipops because you know not how good they taste ?"
Everyone likes to be called intelligent, sharp, witty, quick, bright, logical. For that, it is essential to read lots of brain teasers, puzzles which will twist your brain, churn it around and kick it about till all the space in your skull is filled with it. The vacuum would be disappeared, the blur in your vision would be gone and you would see a broader and bigger world before you.
So, start to use your brain....

P.S. This post is actually the impact of me learning brain teasers. I am squeezing my brain now...:)

Snippets Of The Day

I received these message from one of my friends which greatly lured me and thought I could put it up in my blog. All credits to her.
  • If  a big fat man comes through your window and puts you up in a sac, Don't fear, for I have asked Santa that I need you. ( I received this one during Christmas..:)
  • "2 get"  & "2 give"  creates 2 many problems.  But, just Double it
" 4 Get "  & " 4 give " solves all the problems. So, lets live life with a simple attitude.
( i felt the true essence of this message )

P.S.  Got a Transcend hard drive yesterday and spent the whole day in data transfer.

Yuletide Season

                                          Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
                                              Jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride
                                         In a one-horse open sleigh...!!
The yuletide season has rung in and everyone knows C is for christmas cakes and caps, carols and cribs, candles and candies and ofcourse the ubiquitous bells and stars. Christmas has become a day of celebration to all now. It doesn't matter whether you are a christian or not. Stars and lights are on in majority homes as decoration items. Truly the month of December does usher in fun in all its elements. There is nip in the air, spring in the feet and joy in the heart. The weather too is mood enhancing and inspite of commodities, recession is passe'.
Now, I am reminded of the Christmas celebration in my school. Being a Christian school it is, there will usually be a grand celebration for Christmas. Any one of our teachers would dress up like Santa and come around the school at the end of celebration. They won't reveal their identity. After the celebration, we go after every teacher to ask who the real person is. There would be spontaneous wave of euphoria.
The festive cheer has started again after Diwali.
There's more, much more to Christmas than candlelight and cheer; It's the spirit of sweet friendship that brightens all year, Its thoughtfulness and kindness, It's hope reborn again, For peace, For undersatnding, And for goodwill to men !

Akshaya Patra

India is now planning a trip to the moon, but is not able to provide even the rudimentary facilities to nearly half the population of India living below the poverty line.We can be proud of our eminent scientists, great educational institutions like IITs, IIMs. But how far has it made a difference in the life of a common man. This is not to say that they have benefitted none. With such a black scenario, how can we expect an enlightened India?
All these doesn't mean that India does not have necessary facilities to provide to its men. The rootcause is it is not distributed in equal measures to all people. In a nutshell, there are regional imbalances.
What not the problems the poor face..!! They live a life of dark interlude of distress and deprivation. Unemployment, hunger, homelessness, disease, malnutrition...it really makes me faint while thinking about it..just think about their situation..?? They don't even have the provision of elementary education. The main problem with them is that they are illiterates. They remain ignorant and get trapped in the nets of wicked.
EDUCATION IS A COMPANION WHICH NO MISFORTUNE CAN DEPRESS, NO CRIME CAN DESTROY, NO ENEMY CAN ALIENATE, NO DEPOTISM CAN ENSLAVE.
It is always said that one would feel the real pain and difficulty of other person only when one experiences it.
We would understand the difficulty of blind when we remain without opening our eyes for one full day. Remain without speaking, you would feel the grief of dumb. Just remain a day without food, you would understand the true meaning of poverty.
Food is an essential prerequisite for life. For rich and poor alike a certain amount of food is necessary to keep the body in good condition. At this juncture, I feel proud to say about the Akshaya patra foundation. It is a NGO providing free lunch for all poor students all over the world. I feel proud to use this blog for a noble cause.
Read about this foundation here :  http://www.akshayapatra.org/

People should render yeoman's service to ameliorate the lot of their poor  brethren. India can then surely attain its true halo of prominence.

"No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger."

Happy Birthday

Today, happens to be the birthday of a very close friend of mine. She is the one who never forgets to wish me on my birthdays and I too reciprocate the same to her. She is my well wisher, guide and even philosopher at times. I am so glad to have met such a lovely friend in my life. She always worries about her handwriting.
Not to forget, my family identifies only her as my school friend ( even though i had lots of friends ). Even teachers envied our friendship (me, affu and nushu ) and I could remember one of my teachers asking me " wherever you move about, will you three go together?"
I dedicate this post to you my friend. Always special occasions reminds us sweet old memories.
Happy Birthday Afroza....May all your dreams come true..!!

Friend's Call..:)

Yesterday, I was busy studying for my Measurements exam. To my surprise, I got a phone call from my school friend. Its been almost 3 years since I met her last. I didn't expect the phone call from her and I got too elated. I call her Nushu. I had a dream visiting my school and my old friends just before few days. It was like a dream come true. She had been very supportive throughout my school life. I got her friendship in my 3rd grade.
At this juncture, I thank her for all that she has done to me. Glad  to have come across such a wonderful human being in my life.

EXAMS...

Well, I should not be blogging now. I should actually be sitting with all my books around studying all circuits and burning the midnight oil. My exams starts from morrow. The first subject is Numerical Methods, and following it is Measurements and instruments on Saturday. I remember both the profs saying that these subjects are which one can't fail even if they wish to. I am prepared for these subjects now, started NM only in the morning and completed successfully. Come Tuesday is my Microprocessor exam which is always a Herculean task for me. Then follows DSP (students always feel it difficult, but i feel it like eating bread and butter..:) ). The last is Transmission lines and it is also going to be the day to celebrate.

  • On dec 1,we had no other option, so again shopped to T.Nagar. But this time, my aunt and brother too accompanied. We went by flying train so that we could view the whole city. Saw chepauk stadium, new secretariat. My brother is crazy of cricket and he was jumping with joy after seeing the stadium. It started to drizzle and we purchased only 2 dresses. It was so cool.
  • On 2nd, I was so tired and so stayed in home with my aunt. My mom, dad and my brother went to mylapore. I was reading " The Double Life Of Ramalinga Raju". Left Chennai in the evening . While moving through Tambaram, I witnessed a horrible  accident. A man aged 50, slipped from the train and his legs were crashed while trying to get hold over the moving train. His legs and hands were crashed in seconds. Couldn't still forget that incident.

Experiences in Chennai

  • On 27.11.'10, left to chennai by train. The train was scheduled at 11.00 , but then it was delayed by 30 mins. Myself and my mother almost slept.
  • Reached Chennai at 9 in the morning. Went to Besant Nagar beach in the evening. It was like as if the whole people of Madurai were placed in one place. Such a big crowd. Chennai people are actually lucky because they have lots of places to refresh themselves compared to Madurai. The highlight of that day was our discussion about the presence of evil spirits after watching Neeya Naana show. My aunt, mom were saying their own experiences. The topic then shifted to humans before and after birth.
  • On 29th , went to Royal women's hostel in Nungambakkam. In the evening, went to my grandma's house in Mylapore. Actually , that was my first visit and haven't seen her before. She is my grandma's sister. She embraced me and I felt like seeing my own grandma ( my dad's mom had died before my birth). Had a great time as she was saying about her old experiences, my dad's activities as a child. Couldn't forget the experiences with the dog over there. It kept barking at my brother till we left the house. Then headed towards Marina beach. As always we had a discussion and our topic was about aeroplanes, pilot, galaxy, gravitation force. My brother was the source for all these topics. Returned to home by flying train. In the night, we started discussing about the varieties of names.
  • On 30 th, went to T.Nagar leaving my brother with my aunt and uncle. Shopped till 3.00 and got my favourite book Twilight. In the evening, went to Grand Sweets near my aunt's house. It is a very big shop and they give something to eat for the customers. Myself and my brother had a small fight there. We ate kuli paniyaram ( i always wanted to eat it, but didn't get a chance ). It was like onion dosa..:). My uncle left to tiruchengode and we then played "Find the word"
